The Continuity Catalyst

Self-Proclaimed, Of Course

If you ever get the chance to toe the line of the Oil & Gas industry, just know it’s an all‑out sprint (and if you know me, you know I never back down from a good run). When I had the opportunity to run that race, it became one of the most exhilarating challenges of my life.  Across ten years with the same company, I maneuvered from corporate to downstream and finally upstream, taking on roles in accounting, loss prevention, procurement, and HSE.  With each progression, I earned more responsibility, hard-won respect, and a new passion for business continuity and organizational resilience.

In my resilience leadership role, I managed the business continuity and emergency response programs on paper, meticulously building, documenting, and maintaining plans. But I also made them actionable through Incident Command System (ICS) training and real-world exercises that I facilitated for our business units in the U.S., Canada, and Malaysia.  A particular point of pride was driving the enterprise-wide implementation of our mass emergency notification system (from inception to launch) and ensuring full operational readiness. That investment proved invaluable during Hurricane Harvey, when I stepped in (and up) as Operations Section Chief.  From both home and the Emergency Operations Center, I coordinated real-time response efforts, dispatched emergency operations to support employees, provided resources throughout and after the hurricane, and put the new notification system into action, enabling critical communication when it mattered most.

For those efforts, I received a letter of commendation from our CEO and was recognized as an outstanding contributor.  While the recognition was deeply meaningful, the real reward came from knowing I could help others in a time of struggle and despair, a profoundly humbling experience.  For me, these moments revealed that true resilience is never just about what’s on paper, but about proactive leadership, hands-on execution, and doing right by people in times of crisis.

Those experiences (in high-stakes environments and moments of real human need) cemented my passion for business continuity and organizational resilience. I’ve seen firsthand how thoughtful planning, decisive action, and compassionate leadership can safeguard not only business operations but, more importantly, people’s lives and livelihoods. That’s why I remain deeply committed to building cultures of resilience wherever I go, because preparation and care don’t just weather the storm. They help others rise above it. I will always toe that line.
